How to Make A Diaper Cake

For those hosts among us who do not bake, this is the perfect solution! Use it as a centerpiece, then send it home with mom as your gift to her.

Your diaper cake can be personalized to fit any theme and can be done in any colors with as many tiers as you would like.

My example has three tiers.

How to Make A Diaper Cake:

You will need: A Box of Small or Medium Diapers 3 4 oz. Baby Bottles Scotch Tape 1 Yard of One Inch Ribbon 1 Cake Platter, optional Baby items for "stuffing" the cake, (also optional) like little baby wash, little lotions, brushes, pacifiers, teething toys 1 Cake Topper (A small stuffed animal is perfect)

Each baby bottle will be the anchor in the middle of each cake tier. Start by wrapping diapers around one bottle, securing with scotch tape (something like glue dots for scrapbooking would work like a charm, but I doubt the diapers will come apart nicely.) Keep wrapping until you are satisfied with the size of your tier.

Do the same to make the second layer of the diaper cake, only this time make it smaller than the first. And then make your smallest layer the same way.

Use the ribbon to wrap around each tier and tie into pretty bows. It's important to use the ribbon since the tape won't hold permanently. The ribbon will also hold your little baby items if you'd like to tuck them in now.

The last touch is the topper!

A very cute option I've seen if you'd like:

Buy two receiving blankets and a matching burp cloth. Wrap the receiving blankets around the bottom two tiers and use the burp cloth for the top tier. You'll fold each lengthwise to match the height of the tier, wrap around and secure with diaper pins. This could replace using the ribbon, or you could still tie the ribbons over the blankets and burp cloth, stuff with baby items, and still top with a stuffed animal!
